WITH OKOWA'S RECKLESS BORROWING, ANYBODY CAN RULE DELTA
* CBN, Lending Banks Need Prosecution
* Okowa will pay dearly for his sins
It is inciting of Delta State Government, under Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to, again, recklessly borrow another N25Billion when the dust is yet to settle on the indefensible NI5OBiliion (One hundred and fifty billion naira) he borrowed less than two months ago.
What has government become and what does Okowa and rubber-stamp Sheriff Oborevwori led Delta State House of Assembly take Deltans for, that everyone is a fool or doesn't care? For a state among the highest-earning from federal income yet lagging in development, why has Okowa chosen to finish strong on making Delta a laughing stock?
With Okowa's reckless borrowing without justification to rule a state so endowed with wealth, anybody can shine and do much better than Okowa as Delta state governor. Under Okowa governance has become too much of a joke. It is no longer debatable that Okowa is borrowing to share among associates.
Like Ibori, it is a failure of the Nigerian state, in the guise of immunity that Okowa's thieving borrowing is not drawing the attention of anti-graft agencies. This was how Ibori stole the state blind, and bought the anti-corruption agencies, not until he quit office. Even when he left office, he shut the EFCC and ICPC with the stolen wealth that they couldn't prosecute him. It took the UK prosecutors/court to send him to jail, with much of his loot filtered into private vaults.
The other dimension to Okowa's thieving borrowing is to begin to look at the aiding and abetting by banks. A governor who just borrowed N150B is borrowing another N25B within a month.
Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the financial institutions, particularly the banks aiding Okowa on the borrowing to mortgage the future of Delta generations unborn needs to be investigated and prosecuted. What arrant rubbish. Okowa can't borrow billions in gluttonous appeal without the CBN's approval.
Rather than collude in misconduct, the banks should be making the governor accountable for what was previously borrowed as justification for the new borrowing. The banks have no reason to help Okowa to filter away Delta Commonwealth by resorting to monthly lending to the state.
It is apparent that CBN and commercial bank chiefs collude with politicians to loot the public treasury. I don't know why EFCC/ICPC is not focusing on arresting/prosecuting these bankers who collude with politicians to loot. It's time they came out hard to find out why the aiding and abetting are coming out strongly.
Okowa has become one of the most financially reckless and the worst thief and shameless politician in the country. How will Delta survive the borrowing rascality under Okowa? So, in his desperation to loop Vice President come 2023, he has to borrow mindlessly.
God will punish our wicked politicians. They may not be the first to have done this, but it is sheer wickedness for Okowa and Speaker Sheriff Oborevwori to collude in looting every available and unavailable state treasury. Okowa will pay for his sins of betraying, deception, lies and unstable politics with no human heart.
