WHO'S CHEERING TINUBU'S BILL FOR REGIONAL GOVERNMENT?
These reckless Nigerian politicians will still hijack and abuse the Regional government Act if passed and implemented. What have they not abused?
Who are the people running NNPCL? They are still appointees of politicians in power? Corruption has blinded the eyes of any President of Nigeria to the extent they retain the position of the minister of petroleum resources.
These same appointees who are errand boys of politicians have grounded the refineries. NNPCL. and its subsidiary called NEPL(NPDC) have hijacked operations of private oil companies by forming Asset Management Team(AMT) to destroy the upstream sector as they have destroyed the refineries.
Tinubu is wooing investors to invest in Nigeria and at the same time using NEPL(NPDC) with no capacity to take operations of the oil & gas companies. Which investors will invest his money in business that NNPCL and NEPL will not allow them operate the oil & gas companies.
Example of this is OML 34 of Utorogu Gas Plant being hijacked from ND WESTERN LTD through the back door of frivolous AMT by NNPCL and NEPL. Who will be happy to invest in a business and at the same time being prevented from operating the company?
Which countries do that in the Western world in this 21st century? Is it the business of government to operate and manage businesses? NNPCL and NEPL should remain as regulators and nothing more and not to take part in operations and management of businesses in Nigeria.
Will the change of government to regional governance end the looting of treasuries by politicians? Will the regional government end insincerity of Nigerian politicians to stop them from seeing government as private factories and farms?
Will the regional governance end tribalism, nepotism, bribery and illegality. Will the regional government put an end to election manipulations? Will regional government end the corruption in judiciary,security agencies? Will the regional government change the attitude of the people? Things that work in other countries don't work in Nigeria.
Federalism and Presidential system of government work in US but don't work in Nigeria. Every public sector is abused by politicians as they currently abuse in the oil & gas sector. NNPCL remains the most abused government establishment in Nigeria where they feed fat from hence they pass the back door through its NEPL(NPDC) to form frivolous AMT to hijack operations of private oil & gas companies in Delta state.
Is it normal for Nigeria to be a major producer of oil & gas and yet they still import fuels rather that refine crude oil that Nigeria will export to other countries? Will the regional government end importation of refined fuels? In my opinion the regional government will still be hijacked by these thoughtless politicians and their children.
As the Nigerian politicians are aging they are replacing selves with their children. Okowa has brought in his child to government. Uduaghan & Ibori have brought in their children to government as well. No matter the name rebranding of any system of government in Nigeria the same irresponsible politicians will dominate the political space.
They have the stolen wealth to bribe selves and their children to retain power whether regional system of government. It is pouring old wine in a new bottle. Will that change the taste of the wine?
