WHATEVER ANGER THE YOUTHS HAVE CONCERNING THE DEPLORABLE STATE OF THE SOUTH-SOUTH REGION, IT SHOULD BE CHANNELED TO THE POLITICAL LEADERS IN THE SOUTH-SOUTH OF THE NIGER-DELTA REGION

WHATEVER ANGER THE YOUTHS HAVE CONCERNING THE DEPLORABLE STATE OF THE SOUTH-SOUTH REGION, IT SHOULD BE CHANNELED TO THE POLITICAL LEADERS IN THE SOUTH-SOUTH OF THE NIGER-DELTA REGION

I was elated recently when I saw an online video of a young speaker, who was given the microphone to make his contribution during a Stakeholders Security meeting in Port-Harcourt, Rivers, in which it was discovered that most of the Federal Government Officials and Ministers concerned, were suspiciously absent.

The said young man fearlessly spoke my mind with boldness, as regard some of the nonsense being thrown at us, which our people are tolerating, especially those in the South-South. Though, the said young man was a brave speaker who poured out his anger without pretence, but I wish he had directed more of that frustration to the seated South South State Governors, who are the real problems we have here in the South-South of Nigeria.

As regards the scheduled South-South Stakeholders meeting, there is no excuse whatsoever for the Federal Government not to have sent its representatives to the meeting. The said Security meeting  at the Presidential Villa could have been rescheduled to hold in the night in Abuja, after the stakeholders meetings in Port-Harcourt. Rather than neglecting such a gathering of mostly South-South stakeholders. It is having no regard for the people.

However, in my view, all of these stakeholders' meetings and security meetings are practically useless since there are really no tangible feedback, or implementation of whatever that was discussed and agreed. Often times, those who go for such meetings, end up sharing money, and that is where it ends.

Again, I expected the said brave speaker to vent all of his anger on the South-South Governors. According to a comment from Abayomi Akinmutola: "I think he only spoke the mind of the Governors seated, who are all PDP members. The Ministers that were absent are APC members. Otherwise,............"

Though, it might seem the young man was acting the script of one of the South-South Governors who has stolen much from the people, but I am still glad he also said somethings that touched all the Governors.

Amongst so many other things, these State Governors have refused to judiciously use and account for their State resources, Federal Allocations and the 13% derivation, to develop their states. Not to mention the huge funds they get in the name of Security Votes, which they have been at liberty not to account for how this is used.

The Governors, especially those of the South-South, are irrelevant as far as I am concerned. And they are guilty as the President and his Ministers as well. All the Governors have become billionaires today with stolen public funds. Who were these South-South Governors before 1999?

The anger of the South-South youths should be on the South-South Governors, both past and present. The anger should be on all the South-South lawmakers, both past and present. The anger should be on all the past and present MDs/Directors of the NDDC/Ministry of the Niger Delta. The anger should be on all the past and present Council Chairmen/Councillors from the South-South. The anger should be on all Public Office holders in the South-South. That is how I see it.
