TRUMP – THE UNCELEBRATED US PRESIDENT AND HIS LOSS AT THE ELECTION AS ALLEGED BY THE MEDIA

With the apparent end of the 2020 US Presidential election that currently still has Joe Biden of the Democrats, kicking off a transition process, and Donald Trump of the Republicans refusing to concede as at the time of writing this piece, all I can say is that one of the major reason why Trump may seem to have lost his second term bid to the Oval Office, is simply because he remains the unconventional politician who is without pretense, and says things as they are.

However, the US Presidential election appears to be far from over. As reported by FOX News recently, in an interview with US Senator, Ted Cruz, who was part of the George Bush’s 2004 recount Team, made this statement on the status of the US election: “It is premature to say Biden is the President-elect. At this point, we do not know who has prevailed in the US election. The media is desperately trying to get everyone to coronate Joe Biden as the next President. But that is not how it works. The media does not get to select the President of the United States of America, the American people gets to elect the next President. At this point, we have numerous States that are vaguely and seriously being contested…and in all of those States, there are serious disputes about the votes’ totals. And there’s a legal process to resolve those disputes. So, at this point, they should allow the Rule of Law to operate…and when that process is concluded, which will be in a matter of weeks, we would know who prevailed in the election…”

Yet, our Nigerian President and political leaders have already sent congratulatory messages to Joe Biden as the next US President. Whereas, China, Mexico, Russia have not congratulated Biden because they felt it was too premature to do so since allegations of electoral malpractices are yet to be determined by the US Supreme Court. I am even surprised that China and Mexico, which are anti-Trump nations, are still waiting for the decision of the Supreme Court as the determining factor.

According to Solomon Ugbeye, a Nigerian lawyer based in the UK and former Shell Staff, he said, while looking at the above development with the US election: “That is why the whole country is nosediving in everything. Nothing appears to be working in virtually all the sectors other than strategies for looting and mechanized corruption. A demonstration of ignoramus and bunch of political illiterates who still, and can be deceived by social media apparatus, which ironically, they are clamouring to truncate in Nigeria.”

I believe Donald Trump would have been one of the greatest US Presidents of this 21st century, if only his public speeches were restricted. To me, he means well for the American people. He believes US is for the Americans and only for them. I wish our Nigerian political leaders could be brave and courageous as Donald Trump, who governed his people without pretense.

A recently circulated online statement by Rev Nwoye C., clearly captures this undeniable fact about Trump, whom we may say might have bitten off more than he could chew. But he remains the uncelebrated US President of this age, who came and made a strong statement in US Politics, which Nigeria and our politicians should learn from.

As reiterated by the said statement, from the moment Trump came, “he was hated for saying it raw as it is. He was unpolished for the new American political class as they claimed his speeches demean the exalted office of POTUS. Trump talked tough and he meant everything he said. He did things out of the norm and statuesque. He said things that got many angry, even when what he said are facts and the realities. Some of the things said are: China exports to USA and imports nothing from USA. That is not trade balancing but ripping off USA. US jobs stay in USA. US pays too much to United Nations (UN) and World Health Organization (WHO), while China pays little, yet makes too much profit.

“Trump said Government cannot sponsor abortion. But that was invitation of trouble from angry US parents who cannot discourage teen sex. Trump said Gay is not a choice for animals talkless of human beings, and it offends the traditional US family setting. Over 35 percent of US plus Europe took offense.

“Trump said American borders must be walled off to Mexican drug and gun cartels. The Latino and the big profiteers felt hurt. He said Visa Ban to terror loving nations like Nigeria, IRAN, etc. The corrupt, killer government and its people got bitter. Trump said killing of Christians in Kaduna South of Nigeria must stop. Nigeria government and others felt it was interference in domestic issue of sovereign nations. Trump said vaccines for Covid-19 is fraud. Big pharmaceutical companies got pissed.

“In other words, we can say that Trump pissed off too many people and interest groups. Political experts took 4 years to plan it all. And that why Mail-in votes at the just concluded US Presidential election was 100 percent anti Trump. The Covid-19 was all game plan to promote mail votes en-masse. As such, Congratulations to the Gay community, Big Pharma, Pro-choice, Mainstream Media like CNN, BLM. They worked hard, mobilized, while the Christian community was trying to recover from lock down as churches were fully locked down in the guise of Covid-19, so Pastors will not sensitize their followers.

“Biden made his choices clear as a liberal, Pro LGBT. Pro Abortion, Pro China, Americans voted his choices. Let us allow Americans to enjoy the CHANGE they dreamed of, just as Nigeria is celebrating OURS. Congratulations to a well-orchestrated plan that started early with huge investment on main stream media. It pays to start early, plan and attack head on till you break defenses of your opponent.

“Congratulations, as "VIP" Nigerians have been stripped of police escorts while CBN gets injunction from court to block accounts of all individuals and organization linked to ENDSARS. We want CBN to use such diligence to find bank accounts of all linked to Boko Haram, Foreign bandits and killer herdsmen and block same too, to make Nigeria great again. Congratulations to American voters. Nigeria needs electoral reforms so that votes can be protected in 2023. The beauty of God is that He respects man’s choices. He gave man power of choice, but denied man power to choose consequence of his choice. All choices have consequences. America chose in 2016. America also changed their choice in 2020 just as Nigeria did in 2015. Let each nation enjoy its CHOICE.”

A look at all that Trump stood for, would make us understand why he lost at the US Presidential election for his second term. He remains a man who is without pretense, that says it as it is. And I believe the Nigerian political leaders have a lot to learn from him.

Having said that, I still believe Nigeria is politically more advanced than the US if only we would get our acts together and do things as they ought to be done. The greed to loot public wealth with reckless abandon and impunity, and the greed and unhealthy desire to appoint/elect/support one’s tribe regardless of whether they are fit and qualified for the public office concerned; has remained the two major problems hindering our growth. The US too has theirs, as the Supreme Court is quite polarized and political. The US Judges are either Democrats or Republicans, and they don’t hide or pretend about their identities.

In my own opinion, US President Trump has done more than what 5 past US Presidents have done put together. Some of the things he has done include:  Almost 4 million jobs created since election; More Americans are now employed than ever recorded before in their history; Have created more than 400,000 manufacturing jobs since 2016 election and 95 percent of U.S. manufacturers are optimistic about the future—the highest ever; Economic growth last quarter hit 4.2 percent; Women’s unemployment recently reached the lowest rate in 65 years; Signed the biggest package of tax cuts and reforms in history. After tax cuts, over $300 billion poured back in to the U.S. in the first quarter alone; Helped win U.S. bid for the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles; Helped win U.S.-Mexico-Canada’s united bid for 2026 World Cup; Providing more affordable healthcare options for Americans through association health plans and short-term duration plans and reformed the Medicare program to stop hospitals from overcharging low-income senior citizens on their drugs—saving seniors hundreds of millions of dollars this year alone; Signed Right-To-Try legislation; Increased their coal exports by 60 percent; U.S. oil production recently reached all-time high; made United States to become a net natural gas exporter for the first time since 1957; Secured record $700 billion in military funding; $716 billion next year; Protected Americans from terrorists with the Travel Ban, which was upheld by Supreme Court; Reached a breakthrough agreement with the E.U. to increase U.S. exports; Imposed tariffs on foreign steel and aluminum to protect their national security; Imposed tariffs on China in response to China’s forced technology transfer, intellectual property theft, and their chronically abusive trade practices, and so many other policies and practices put in place to make America great again.

Truth is, whether we like it or not, Trump is an embodiment of a political leader who is serving his country with all of his might and soul, regardless of who or what is involved. He does not care what people think. Does not pretend about anything. Does not speak like a typical Politician, yet a very outspoken, blunt and forthright US President. Trump, within the short time he has been in Office, has SANITIZED his country. In fact, I strongly wish we have someone like Trump as Nigeria’s President. We seriously need Trump as a Nigerian President who is a no-nonsense person who does not care who or what is involved in carrying out his election campaign and promises to the people. Nigeria is in desperate need of someone like Trump, who is not afraid to take certain decisions, as far as those decisions are tailored towards improving the ‘general living standards of the citizenry’ – not some selected few like we see here.

However, moving forward, I still maintain that the British Parliamentary system of Government and the Judiciary may be more reliable in Nigeria than our currently styled so-called Presidential system of Government. Aside the fact that we are not practicing true Federalism, the Presidential system of Government is just too costly for us as a nation.

Whatever the case maybe, whether it is Trump or Biden that eventually gets declared the winner of the US Presidential election by the US Supreme Court, it will not affect me as a person because I will never apply to the US or any foreign country in the West, for dual citizenship. Nigeria remains my only country irrespective of what is going on here. I have no vote or say as regards what becomes the final outcome of the US election. All we need, and are asking for, is for Nigerian political leaders to be more committed and accountable to the development of this country because this is our home country.
