TRAGIC EWU PRIMARY SCHOOL COLLAPSE, EXCESSES OF NANA COLLEGE ARROGANT PRINCIPAL & INSENSITIVITY OF GOV OBOREVWORI

The tragic collapsed of the Egherekan Primary School building in Ewu, Ughelli South LGA, killing one pupil and injuring three others in critical condition is another shame of the shambolic PDP led Delta State Government now under Sheriff Oborevwori.

This year, I've been intentional about drawing attention of the Delta Governor and relevant state agencies to the sorry state of basic and post primary schools in Delta.

Rather than intervene on the widespread development emergencies on the failing schools, the governor, in acknowledgement is deploying hired praise singers and propagandists in the guise of Aides to call me names and abusing whoever is concerned about the situation.

Precisely 5th June 2024, I drew attention of Oborevwori to a viral video on the state of dilapidation at Orhowhe Primary School Edjophe-Iwhrekan in same Ughelli South LGA where classrooms are collapsing and pupils and teachers don't have chairs and desks to learn and teach.

Two weeks ago, similar video went viral on pupils at neighboring Ughievwen Model Primary School, in Otu-Jeremi, the headquarter of Ughelli South LG, seated on bare floor to learn.

As I have said in this advocacy for revival of the state's basic schools, if those in upland can be in such sorry state, the situation in remote rural and riverine communities must be so terrible.

Today, a tragedy has occured in Ewu Town with more school buildings likely on the verge of collapse in the face of gross government neglect. This decay is not just in the schools.

Delta infrastructures are decaying every day and Governor Oborevwori,   his commissioners, bloated aides and a rubber stamp Delta State House of Assembly are busy wasting public funds on sharing greek gifts to a hungry populace to blow the governor's trumpet for his puerile, clueless leadership.

Most shameful is the nuisance being constituted by Festus Utuama who represents Ughelli South Constituency in Delta State House of Assembly. He obviously is lost as to why he was elected to represent his constituents.

Festus Otuama is busy attending social events here and there sharing pittance to hangers-on.  Festus Utuama was born and raised in Otughievwen, attended primary and secondary schools in Otughievwen Town, who should know the real needs of his people. His parents and siblings also live in Otughievwen town.

He rather chose to be preoccupied with attending social events in self glorification like Governor Oborevwori whose primary duty is attending funerals, marriages and birthday events of friends and family than addressing the needs of people he governs.

Weeks back, Oborevwori gifted exotic jeeps to lawmakers representing Delta at both state and the National Assembly as if he was elected to provide the vehicles like the state has too much money to waste while he is borrowing up and down.

Every day we hear stories of fake, paper performance of Oborevwori, stories that the governor is creating new ministries, agencies and departments. Everyday he is appointing useless SSAs, SAs, EAs, Directors General (DGs), commissioners while infrastructures are decaying.

Every person wants to be appointed in government to sit idle. In Delta state every person wants to be in government. The state is doomed. Money ought have been used to build infrastructures is recklessly used to pay idle thugs in the guise of aides and much being looted from the commonwealth of the people.

Imagine the avoidable tragedy in the Ewu school building collapse where an innocent child is killed, others injured due to the selfishness of Governor Oborevwori. Where is the mouthy Delta State Orientation Bureau Director-General who  runs to the press to vomit lies always?

They are no where to be found. Shame on Governor Oborevwori and his bunch of rascals he calls aides SSAs, SAs, EAs, DGs, Commissioners and whatever he calls them.

Oborevwori and his appointees and lawmakers won't be perturbed because their children don't attend public schools like the children of the majority of poor people.

Right now at Nana Model Secondary School, a school revived into an infrastructures beauty under Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan, a conceited new School Principal unfit to uphold the standards is running the school aground.

Accused by subordinates of influencing her transfer as Principal to the school by money and power brokers in the state government to the place.

As we speak she is doesn't live in the befitting duplex that is the Principal Lodge in the school. She is hardly on ground to manage the school and when she comes in, she engages in bullying teachers and students, abusing their parents and threatening dismissal at will.

As we speak the Principal at Nana Model Secondary School has influenced the transfer of sound teachers out of the school and work with her clique.

Boarding students are left hungry, fed with miserable meals and low quality of food with impunity in the guise of hostel fee of N60,000 being paid by students in a public school not being enough to run the feeding.

When parents complain, she abuses them of paying pittance and wanting quality food they can't give to their children in their homes to be served to them in the school.

Even when parents of boarding students in a PTA meeting had agreed and paid N20,000 extra to complement the government approved N60,000 boarding fees to improve the quality of food, nothing has changed.

The boarding students are malnourished, having frequent health breakdown and parents are withdrawing their children and wards from Nana College, yet the Governor and commissioner are turning deaf ears to the increasing complaints.

Nana College needs serious monitoring and evaluation to check the excesses of the current arrogant Principal.
