THE URGENT NEED FOR THE OSUBI-WARRI AIRSTRIP TO BE MADE FUNCTIONAL AGAIN
This is to bring to the attention of the Delta State Government, the Federal Government and the Federal Ministry of Aviation, and appeal for their urgent intervention to see that the Osubi-Warri Airstrip is made functional again.
As we speak, there are no commercial flights landing and taking off at the said Osubi-Warri Airstrip, and this is not a good development, especially when we consider the importance of the Airstrip in serving Nigerians within and around the oil city of Warri.
Major Airline operators like Aero Contractors, Air Peace, Arik, etc, are not flying to and taking off from the Osubi-Warri Airstrip in Delta State as public commercial flights. The politics in this whole functionality of the Osubi-Warri Airstrip is not only confusing, but also not supposed to be. Why would the Government ignore and leave such a beautiful and state-of-the-art Airstrip to be wallowing in waste for such a long time? What is Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, Sheriff Oborevwori, and Festus Keyamo doing about this pathetic situation of the Osubi-Warri Airstrip?
The Osubi-Warri Airstrip ought not to have been left not functioning for public commercial flights for this long. This would never be allowed to happen in other developed societies because they understand the importance of providing air transport for its citizenry.
Governor Okowa in particular, should do whatever that is required in ensuring that public commercial flights resume earnestly, for flights to start taking off and landing in Osubi-Warri Airstrip to transport air passengers. And that talk on papers is not the reality on ground concerning the Osubi-Warri Airstrip. All the promises that were made both the Federal Government and the Delta State Government have all failed concerning the resumption of flights and operations at the Osubi-Warri Airstrip, and this is not a good image of the Delta State Government.
Please, kindly give this issue the urgent attention it needs.
