THE URGENT NEED FOR THE DELTA STATE GOVERNMENT TO REPAIR/MAINTAIN THE UDU BRIDGE TO AVOID EMINENT COLLAPSE

I consider it expedient to draw the attention of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa on the current deplorable and life-threatening state of the Udu bridge, which links Enerhen Town in Uvwie LGA to Ovwian Town in Udu LGA of Delta State. And I strongly urge the Okowa-led Delta State Government to promptly take steps to re-surface/maintain the said Udu bridge and PREVENT a possible disaster in the near future.
As I write this, there are major pot holes right now on the centre of the said ever-busy Udu bridge, and even the joined spots of the bridge are beginning to shake as vehicles cross them. All of these, threatens the integrity and reliability of the said Udu bridge, which makes it unsafe and a disaster waiting to happen.
If the said Udu bridge is not maintained soonest, there is a great chance that it may cave-in as the said bad spots cut further, and the holes get bigger. This is very dangerous for motorists/tricycles and pedestrians respectively moving and trekking across the bridge.
I therefore implore that this repair/maintenance of the said Udu bridge, should be done very fast. I don't think it will take much to have it addressed. Properly mixed asphalt poured on the surface of the Udu bridge will go a long towards having it addressed. But it should be carried out by experts with the technical knowledge of bridge repairs, and not by any construction contractor.
I urge that this issue be given the needed attention as stated. Thanks.
