THE PULL-HIM-DOWN SYNDROME WILL NEVER HELP US AS A PEOPLE
September 28, 2020 | News
The current conspiracy by few Delta State politicians/elites against Olorogun Kenneth Gbagi is absolutely worthless and uncalled for. In fact, it should be a great cause for alarm for any well-meaning Deltan, especially the Urhobo nation.
THE PULL-HIM-DOWN SYNDROME WILL NEVER HELP US AS A PEOPLE
The current conspiracy by few Delta State politicians/elites against Olorogun Kenneth Gbagi is absolutely worthless and uncalled for. In fact, it should be a great cause for alarm for any well-meaning Deltan, especially the Urhobo nation.
The usual pull-him/her-down syndrome, which has become a plague and disease amongst us as a people, is something that will always keep us backward as a State from progressing the way we should. It is even more disturbing when this is passionately done and pursued by a few, for mundane and selfish reasons that does not make sense to the logical mind.
When other States and nations are putting heads together to build their society and people to greater heights, ours are busy seeking out for opportunities to pull others, who mean well down. Some even blindly follow the few elites to condemn and pull that person down for no justifiable reason, other than the fact that they are after their selfish gains at the political space.
I, Zik Gbemre, will never stoop so low by doing such follow-follow, in pulling someone down, especially when that person has clearly not done anything wrong. Besides, there are more serious and pressing issues we should focus and channel our energy on, which would benefit all and sundry, instead of wasting time on such frivolous chase of shadows. Zik Gbemre is not a politician, and I am not a member of either the PDP or the APC, or any other political party in Nigeria. Zik Gbemre is also not seeking for any political appointment, be it the Secretary to Delta State Government or Federal Government. Or the Office of Chief of Staff to President Buhari or Governor Okowa. Mine is to speak out against the ills and wrongs in our society, without fear or favour, and no matter who or what is involved.
I really do not see why the conspiracy by few Delta State elites against the person of Gbagi and his political aspirations. It is just worthless and needless. Why fight Gbagi merely based on allegations that are unfounded? I don't even understand why some people in Delta State are so excited over this issue? But regardless of what they do, no one can influence another one's destined future. What will they gain by trying to pull Gbagi down? Is that a noble way, people with supposed integrity, should climb in their political career? Anyone who pulls others down so that they, or another would climb the political ladder, is nothing but devishly-ambitious. And such persons won't ever make good leaders. They would only be there for the wrong reasons.
I was attending Gbagi's elder sister's burial ceremony last Friday 25th Sept, 2020, and we were together in his village, when the rumours of his arrest, which was engineered by political detractors, went viral online. We can imagine how low and desperate these people can go just to smear the name of someone they consider as threat to their political ambition. And others also blindly joined in the band wagon of pulling Gbagi down for no justifiable reason. How will we become a respected Urhobo nation when we see nothing wrong with pulling one of own down for no reason? What a shame!
When it comes to judging any situation, our Urhobo people should learn to hear from both sides before jumping into conclusion. The hear-say without pictures that do not show Gbagi as being involved in what he is being accused of, is not enough justification for anyone to jump into conclusion, especially when such pictures and videos can be doctored.
No one can buy my heart and mind to join this bandwagon of pull him/her down syndrome. I am not known for that. And I will never write for brown envelops and cash inducement for any person, no matter who and what is involved. I also can't be intimidated to join to pull people down. I will continue to write to condemn something that is wrong with facts, and not mere hear-says. If Gbagi was for instance, caught with evidence for stealing, or caught killing a fellow human being, and there are facts to prove this, then I will also condemn him openly without fear or favour. But I will not base my write-ups on mere allegations that were cooked up. I am not a paid writer, and I will never be one at all. Those who know me well, know this about Zik Gbemre. I don't write to make money in the media business or for popularity and fame/recognition. I write from my heart and mind to address issues in the interest of all. I have never in my life get paid or receive money to write for, or against anyone or anything. That has never been my style, and will never be.
I have said my piece.
Zik Gbemre.
