THE NOISE BEING MADE BY THE 62 SOUTHERN POLICE OFFICERS POSTED OUT OF DELTA STATE IS UNCALLED FOR
I believe one of the conditions, which every Police Officer who signed to join the Nigerian Police Force (NPF), is to be always ready to be posted to any location and station across any part of the country, regardless of their ethnicity, religion and cultural base. With this in mind, I really do not see why all the fuss, by the 62 Police Officers who were recently posted out of Delta State.
In my candid opinion, I think some of the Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) have overstayed in Delta State. Some of them have been in Delta State for over 20 years at a stretch. This is no exaggeration, but the said reality on ground.
For me, I think they should not remain in one State for more than 8 years at a stretch. I know of a friend of mine who is a serving police officer, and within four years, he has been posted to Delta Kastina, Sokoto, Edo, and Lagos States. The question is, "Na only Delta dey the country wen they go do police work?".
Let us be frank with ourselves and tell ourselves the truth. A police officer should readily be transferred from one State to another. They were not recruited to serve permanently in one State for years, or all through their active career. They should be moved round the country, to gather experience, and not to remain in one spot as Permanent Secretaries or Traditional Rulers. The noise of the 62 Southern police officers posted out of Delta state is uncalled for. That is my take.
