THE HEARTLESS POLITICAL LEADERS OF THE NIGER DELTA REGION ARE ALREADY CURSED

I was greatly disturbed recently when I saw a picture online showing children in their school uniforms who were submerged in dirty water close to their waist, as they held hands together in other not to get drowned while going to school in a Niger Delta Community. That is a typical example of the sort of pictures all across different parts of the Niger Delta region, which portray the level and degree of suffering, hardship, poverty and inhuman-living-conditions daily faced by millions of locals living in grossly underdeveloped areas of the region. And in the midst of this heart-wrenching and annoying situation, we have all around the region, past and present political leaders – who were supposed to utilize and rightly appropriate our collective wealth/resources for the benefit of all and sundry; living in stupendous wealth and plenty.

As noted in the caption of the said picture, the poster wrote: “These are children going to school in the Niger Delta region, while their leaders are living in affluence. Using illicit funds stolen from monies meant to improve their standard of living. What a people! What a country! What a generation of heartless leaders! May God avenge for the helpless and impoverished citizens of the Niger Delta and of course, Nigeria as a whole.” At the top of the picture it read: “If this is true, then it means there is a grand design by Government to shield these corrupt officers of the NDDC…”

I have always reiterated that the Niger Delta politicians are simply wicked, inhuman, cruel and heartless for ‘deliberately’ impoverishing their own people for years, especially right from 1999 till date.  It is sad that these Niger Delta politicians have all these years, simply misappropriated our collective wealth to satisfy their insatiable greed as well as that of their families, friends, fronts and allies. To add salt to injury, some of these Niger Delta politicians are even being praised and celebrated by majority of the people for their looting of our collective wealth, including those of them that have been jailed for their corrupt practices. And they keep doing this without any iota of remorse or repentance. Let be known to these Political Leaders of the Niger Delta region, that they are already cursed – for all the atrocities they have committed in one way or the other, against the locals of the region who they have cheated for years. As such, the divinely orchestrated Judgement of God that is coming upon every one of them, will so grievous and severe that it will not only affect them in their life time, but the Judgment will affect their present and future generations.

So, when they start seeing some very unusual things happening in their lives, they should realize that they are the ones who have brought the curse upon themselves with their own very hands and wickedness. Truth is, there is no sin that goes unpunished. Though, the judgement may delay, but it will surely come heavily unless they genuinely repent, confess and turn from their evil ways as they also make amends where necessary. Other than that, they should expect the Judgement of God. And to those who have made up their minds to continue on this unworthy path of evil and wickedness against their fellow human beings, may they pay for their sins unmeasured. May they be cursed for deliberately impoverishing their own people in the region. May they suffer the same fate or even worse pains that they have inflicted upon the locals of the region. May they not have peace in their lives, for having brought such sufferings and hardship upon their own people. May they be tormented from all sides for being such wicked persons.

This also applies to all the Community Leaders and their executive members in the Niger Delta region, from those in all levels of Government to those in the Government bodies like the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC). This curse also affects all those that have one time or the other; misappropriated/misused/mismanaged the NDDC funds, Ministry of the Niger Delta funds, the 13% Derivation funds, the Oil/Gas Companies GMoU funds and other initiatives meant to develop the host communities of the region, as well as all the Other State Government Development Interventionist Commissions like DESOPADEC. For not willing, and deliberately refusing to judiciously use all the monies ever allocated/budgeted for the development of the region and to improve the living conditions of the locals, but rather stolen them for their selfish gains; may they all be hammered by the wrath of God, including all of those that engage, or encourage illegal bunkering/illegal refinery/pipeline vandalization in the region which adversely affect the natural environment and livelihood of the people. They all are cursed, and will be greatly punished by God.

It is really sad that today, no State in the Niger Delta region can honesty and transparently account for all the monies that have accrued to them as Federal allocation and internal revenues. A very good example of this is Delta State, which can best be described as one State in the Niger Delta region that receives amongst the highest revenue allocation yet has nothing concrete to show forth for it. In fact, every sector of the state is bedeviled with one problem or the other, all of which are indications of “cumulated years of bad governance.” Infrastructural projects are usually poorly and haphazardly carried out; institutions and agencies of government and their activities are heavily-influenced-politically; government contracts figures are usually bloated to satisfy various interests, not to talk of the preferential way such government contracts are awarded and even ‘re-awarded’ severally to misappropriate more public funds, and the list continues. When one considers the enormous amount of revenues that comes to Delta State Government coffers; one would continue to wonder the level of greed exhibited by the past and present administrations of the State.

These Nigerian Politicians of the Niger Delta region should be reminded that, a day will come, when they will pay for all they have brought against the people in pursuit of their selfish agendas. And even those still praising/celebrating and running after these Politicians who have stolen our collective wealth meant to provide a better future for our children, will turn against them and publicly shame and disgrace them. As noted by former American President, Abraham Lincoln, in one of his famous quotes: “You can fool all the people some of the time, and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time.” A day of reckoning is coming.
