THE BUHARI-LED FEDERAL GOVERNMENT IS REALLY NOT READY/WILLING TO END THE FULANI HERDSMEN/BANDITS TERRORISTS PROBLEM IN THE COUNTRY
I have consistently maintained that the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration is not sincere and honestly willing to bring to an end the carnage caused by Fulani herdsmen and bandits terrorist attacks on countless communities across the nation. All the signs and indicators are there to justify this fact. From their body language, disposition, utterances, prescribed policies as supposed solutions to the problem, to their partiality and insensitivity to the plight of the Nigerian people that are victims of these criminal elements.
How else would one describe recent reports that the Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, has given reason that the Federal Government will not destroy forests where these bandits use as hideouts to carry out kidnappings in the country. Why do they always look for one excuse or the other when it comes to addressing this particular problem caused by those from Northern extractions? But when it involves other parts of the country in the Southern, Eastern and Western parts, they act decisively without hesitation. Do these people think Nigerians are fools or what? Or they are just playing on our intelligence.
According to Mohammed, while speaking on how to eliminate bandits, he said the ecosystem will be affected if the government destroys the forests. He noted that the better solution to eliminating bandits from the forests was to have better consultation between sub-national government, the federal government and security agencies.
Truth be told, this issue is not getting funny anymore. If we have a government that continues to think like this, then we are seriously doomed in this country.
Assuming these bandits terrorists were from other parts of the country, will this man say this same thing? Will the Buhari-led Federal administration be acting the way they are doing currently? I bet we all know the answers to these questions if we are honest with ourselves.
No country is sustained in peace, harmony, unity and progress, when there are different laws for different regions. When certain regions and people are treated in a certain preferable way where frivolous reasons are applied, while other regions and their people are treated with disdain and disregard.
Is the Orlu forest in Orlu Local Government Area of Imo State not in Nigeria? The same Orlu forest and area the Nigerian Federal military had bombarded recently and practically occupied to flush out the so-called Eastern Security Operatives. Let me guess, those in the East are certified terrorists by this Government, hence they want to destroy them. While the Fulani herdsmen and Bandits are 'freedom fighters' right? Hence, negotiation is the best option for them right? Why didn't the same Federal Government apply consultation to those in the East? Not that I am speaking for them or in support of them or anything like that. But how do we explain such double-dealing? Also, is this the reason Boko Haram’s Sambisa forest is still there? It is just sad and rather unfortunate!
By the way, since when did Nigeria start caring about the ecosystem? Does this Government's love for climate change stop the terrorists from polluting the creeks of the Niger Delta and its air from gas flare everyday? What policies has this Government put in place to address and manage climate change and the ozone layer depletion due to the pollution of the environment? If this Government is so concerned about the environment, what are they doing about deforestation? What steps have they taken to encourage eco-friendly energy consumption/usage? Who are they are trying to deceive with such flimsy excuse for not wanting to destroy the hideouts of these criminals?
Why has the Federal Government not shown enough concern about the ecosystem in the South-South region of Nigeria due to the adverse effect of the exploration and production of crude oil, condensate and natural gas? Why are they more concerned about protecting the forests in the North, which these terrorists-laden criminal elements are using as their hideouts? Yet, they allow the destruction of the natural environment of the South-South region with unrestrained gas flaring and pollution of rivers/creeks?
How come this Buhari-led administration have CONTINUED TO RATIONALIZE THE ACTIVITIES OF FULANI HERDSMEN, BANDITS AND TERRORISTS? Why have they not taken decisive steps to end this nonsense once and for all? Is it that they want more Nigerians to be killed, properties and people's livelihoods to be destroyed by these criminals or what? So, the same climate change responsible for Fulani herdsmen terrorists evil, is also the reason why bandit terrorists neighborhoods, which have caused unimaginable pains to Nigerians, can't be destroyed? The big question is: were bandits supposed to be allowed to exist in the first instance? For god's sake, how did Nigeria end up with this sort of government that has continued to fondle these terrorists and their sympathizers? But Lai Mohammed's statement, this Buhari-led Government is telling Nigerians that the "forest/ecosystem" is more important than the lives and Security of Nigerians. What a shame of this government!
