SHAME ON GOVERNOR IFEANYI OKOWA WHO NEGLECTS THE MAJOR ROADS LEADING TO HIS VILLAGE/HOMETOWN BUT PAY ATTENTION TO THE STREETS AROUND HIS ANCESTRAL OWA CLAN/KINGDOM, IKA NORTH EAST LGA.

We are certain if Deltans and Nigerians in Delta State could muster the courage to publicly shame and even stone none performing politicians, we are very sure that these supposedly elected and appointed public office holders the State would not have the guts, audacity and impetus to be doing some of the absurd and disheartening things that they do against the public’s interest with reckless abandon and impunity. If they know that they could be stoned and shamed/disgraced in public, they will think twice before they do anything that will not be in the overall interest of the masses.
This is exactly our thoughts, when we considered the appalling practice by our so-called elected and appointed public officers, who are in the habit of giving all the attention they could in constructing/maintaining the streets around their communities/villages that they hail from, but grossly neglect the major roads/highways that actually leads to the said villages/communities in the first place. One begins to wonder what the essence of doing things this way? Of what use is tarring/constructing/maintaining the streets of their hometowns, whereas, the roads/highways that lead to the said hometowns are left in an unmotorable state? Will people going to such towns expected to fly in with helicopters or what?
A very good example is the case of Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa. Owa-Alero in Ika North-East LGA, Delta State, is the hometown of Governor Okowa in Owa Kingdom/Clan. Owa-Oyibu Town is the Headquarters of Owa Kingdom where Okowa hails from. While all the roads leading from the oil city of Warri to Agbor are in a very bad and unmotorable state, however, all the streets in Owa Kingdom, which is part of Okowa’s town, are well-constructed/tarred and in a very good motorable state. Okowa constructed most of the roads in Owa Kingdom with good drainage systems. But most of the roads around Owa Kingdom are very bad. Now, of what use is having the streets in your village well-tarred, if you cannot drive to your village in the first place? Won't Okowa’s kinsmen and kinswomen drive out of his hometown and to other places? How will they drive to Agbor main town and Warri? It is really shameful. Since these Delta State Government Officials do not know shame, they have to be shamed by all.
Okowa intentionally constructed good roads and gutters that will outlive his administration, in his native Owa clan/Kingdom in Ika North-East Local Government Area. Just like James Ibori did in his hometown Oghara, where he built a stadium that is no longer being put to use, tarred good roads, put a polytechnic, and the Delta State University Teaching Hospital which ought to be in Abraka or Eku or Warri – where the public will easily have access to medical care. Today, all the Medical Consultants in the said Teaching Hospital located in Oghara are residing in Warri and environs – where they are required to travel from everyday to get to Oghara for work. Ambros Ali did a similar thing as Governor of the then Bendel State, as he constructed the best roads in his hometown, Ekpoma. So, Okowa did not start this pathetic trend. But the point here is that Okowa ought to make all the major roads in the State motorable, particularly the ones that lead to his Owa Kingdom.
This reminds us of our post of Facebook some few years ago, about how Sen. James Ebiowou Manager was struggling on Okada (commercial motorcycle), on 21st October, 2017, trying to get to his hometown in Bomadi LGA of Delta State. This is the same Senator James Manager who has been in the Senate since 2003, and was a former Commissioner for Works, Housing and Transport (1999-2003); and many other positions in the corridors of government. As such, we can say he has all the powers/connections/clout to bring both the State and the Federal Government might to fix, not only the said particular road/bridge he was struggling to cross over in an Okada, but also every other bad or non-existing basic infrastructure in his community to alleviate the sufferings of his people. But that has not been seen in all these years, and it appears it will never be.
When the only thing the common man would have benefitted from these politicians are not done by them, then there is obviously no hope for a better tomorrow. Where are all the monies yearly budgeted/given for Constituency Projects for these Senators/Politicians? Where are all the projects? Why should such pathetic state of roads/bridges still be evident in the States of these Politicians, in spite of all the funds yearly budgeted/given to address these developmental needs?
As it is with Governor Okowa and Sen. James Manager and the deplorable state of the roads/infrastructure that leads to their villages, so also it is with majority of the Nigerian politicians in power, as well as the elites in our society and those hanging around the corridors of power as well.
