RE: Babatunde Ogala,SAN,

In my opinion, the Federal Government of Nigeria deliberately signed an MOU with the British Government that the recovered loots of Ibori should be used to fund those three projects outside Delta State, which is unethical and against natural justice. Agreed that the loots have been marked to be used to fund the said three projects, but the most important thing is that the recovered money from Ibori be used transparently to fund projects that would impact Deltans, and I think the proper thing to do in this regard is to amend the MoU with the British Government, so that the money can be used transparently to fund Federal Government projects in Delta State, like the expansion and upgrade of the Osubi-Warri Airstrip to an international standard airport, and the maintenance of all Federal roads in Delta State.

It is regrettable that the Delta State Government and some elders/elites were unwilling at most times to cooperate during the prosecution of Ibori in the UK. But that doesn't mean the loots should be used for projects outside Delta State. I don’t see the need for the money to be given to the Delta State Government because the Delta State Government is under Ibori loyalists. That means the money will be paid to Ibori as compensation. In that case, nothing spoils.
