GEN MUSA AS DEFENSE MINISTER: NIGERIA A JOKE UNDER TINUBU
-By Zik Gbemre
A man who failed to deliver as Chief of Defence staff. A man who was Chief of defence Staff and Killings by boko haram, bandits, fulani herdsmen increased more than ever. Gen Christopher Musa. That is President Bola Tinubu's choice for appointment as Minister Of Defence.
What is difference between Chief of Defence Staff and Minister Of Defence? As Chief of Defence Staff Christopher Musa controlled the armed forces. Musa was the chief executive officer of the military until recently before he was forced to resign by Tinubu.
Same man who failed as Chief Of Defence Staff is now appointed Minister Of Defence. Christopher Musa as Chief Of Defence Staff had all the opportunity to end terrorism by Fulani herdsmen, Boko Haram, bandits but failed.
Does Tinubu understand his role as Commander-In-Chief and President of Nigeria? Replacing a failure with another failure in defence. If Christopher Musa did well as Chief Of Defence Staff then why did mass kilings of Nigerians continued by Boko Haram Fulani herdsmen, bandits and kidnappers?
There is more to this than we can see in the appointment of Christopher Musa as Chief Of Defence Staff. The Nigerian military, police and DSS are overwhelmed and there is need for the United States of America to be invited to establish military base in Nigeria to help fight terrorism.
President Tinubu has ran out of ideas on how to fight insecurity hence he has appointed Christopher Musa as Minister Of Defence. Gen Musa who failed in his capacity as Chief Of Defence Staff is now appointed Minister Of Defence.
Nigerians will hardly reject appointments, if not Gen Christopher Musa knows he can't fight the prevaiking insecurity in Nigeria. Pouring old wines in new bottle won't change the taste.
For one to perform as Minister Of Defence doesn't mean you must be a military man. John Healey, Secretary of Defence in the UK is a politician and has no military background and he is doing well.
Has any of our generals in this era fought any war? No.
Catherine Vautrin Minister Of Ahmed Forces in France was never a military officer but she performs well in her role.
Andrew Belousov, Minister Of Defence of Russia Federation is an economist and civilian, not a military general.
What we have in Nigeria is armchair generals who never fought any war but only interested in illegal solid minerals and illegal oil bunkering in the South South states of Rivers, Bayelsa and Delta.
The Nigerian military generals are always in Delta to share in illegal bunkering. Gen Christopher Musa has no capacity to be a Minister Of Defence, period.
To succeed as head of any security organisation in Nigeria that person must update and upgrade his capacity and be knowledgeable and not just wearing military uniforms or police uniforms or wear suit as DSS at one time that qualifies you to perform.
Their usual language for security operatives in Nigeria is, you can't teach me my job? What job? Do they even know their jobs as security personnel when they are blinded by bribe, illegal bunkering money, bail money, road extortion money from motorists while they make returns to their top officers in the office.
Shell as a company doesn't appoint military generals, former police, DSS officers to head their security department and they perform better. OJ Agbarah who was Shell VP Shell Sub-Sahara Africa was a production engineer, Mason Oghenejobo who replaced OJ Agbarah as VP Shell Security Africa is a Petroleum Engineer and Engineering strategist.
Felix 'Agans' Aganmwonyi who became General Manager Shell Nigeria was social investment personnel of the company. None of these men has military, police and DSS backgrounds.
One doesn't need to be a military general or top police officer or top DSS officer to perform as Minister Of Defence. We need knowledgeable people with capacity to be minister of defence or head security departments in Nigeria.
What is the happiness in Godswill Akpabio as President of the Senate to confirm the appointment of Gen Christopher Musa who has failed in the defending helpless Nigerians in the feild to now become defence minister?
Nigeria has become a joke. Why do you blame foreign nations for wanting to help Nigeria to fight terrorism in Nigeria?
