ON THE DELTA STATE GOVERNORSHIP ELECTION APPEAL JUDGEMENT - LET'S BE REMINDED OF THE SEEDS WE SOW

Chief Great Ovedje Ogboru
I am not surprised with the recent judgment of the Appeal Court regarding the contention of the Delta State Governorship election between Chief Great Ovedje Ogboru and Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa. This is hinged on the fact that there was a rumour, just few days before the said judgment was pronounced, that judgement would not be in favour of Ogboru of the APC because of an allegation of compromise by some powerful Nigerians of the Delta State PDP of James Ibori's dynasty, all of whom had a long standing self-driven ECONOMIC VESTED INTERESTS in Delta State.
These self-centered driven VESTED INTERESTS, are the few persons who have been holding the entire Delta State’s economic development to ransom and stagnation. It is these Vested Interests in Delta State PDP level of Ibori’s dynasty, that Ogboru has to contend and battle with to dislodge them out of the State's seat of power.
In one of his recent notes, Sir Richard Odibo, wrote these encouraging and reassuring words: “I must quickly advise that you must not despair. We have not reached the end of the political highway… These were the class of people that played along, got power, seized it and made fortunes from it. They saw Politics as a Profession, not a Vocation. They put everything into it and today are ready to die to protect it. Most of our people don’t see this, they are not aware that most of the Leaders they have today see them as a conquered people. Because our people’s eyes are open but they cannot see. They blindly follow the Leadership the system has thrown at them. They cannot think on their own… My dear brother, l will advise today that you continuously do your bit. We are not quitting so long as we are alive. From my perspective, I will do the best I can to make my impact felt all over the state.”
They say: "knowledge is power, Ignorance is bliss." Sadly, many Deltan elites are simply people without knowledge and are uninformed. They are easily excited to hear that Ogboru lost again at the Appeal Court, as if it is only Ogboru that lost the case in favour of the OPPRESSORS of our State since 1999 till date. Ogboru did not lose the governorship matter in the Appeal Court that sat in Abuja recently. It was every knowledgeable Deltan that lost that Appeal judgment. Ogboru has been the major opposition in Delta State for as long as we can remember. And we all know that, without an opposition, there is practically no democracy in such a society. But in this case, the Oppressors have Delta State’s money at their disposal to spend as they please to get court judgements in their favour at all cost.
It is alleged that the money that ought to be used for the development of the State, is what they have been using to buy favourable Court judgements to win election petition cases since 1999 till date. But whatever the case may be, Chief Great Ovedje Ogboru remains a great man and the only name that makes the Ibori dynasty and its PDP tentacles to fear and remain uneasy.
Without Ogboru, there is no democracy in Delta State. Ogboru has a special place in Delta State’s history of democracy, particularly since 2003 till date. A man who could not be bought over or cajoled to join the PDP in all these years, is truly a great man of high moral standing and principles. Ogboru is not tempted to join the so-called winning PDP in Delta State all these years. And for remaining true to himself, and many well-meaning and upright Deltans have great respect for him.
Who could be more honourable, and of a great reputation than Ogboru in Delta State? Who could be more of a man of integrity than Ogboru in Delta State politics? So, regardless of what anyone else thinks, the recent Appeal Court Judgement of the Delta State Governorship election matter, was not lost by Ogboru alone, but was also a loss for all people of integrity in Delta State.
As we all know, integrity does not mean anything to the few 'uniformed' Delta State people. All they know how to do is to browse blogs to share unintelligent stories and write-ups here and there. And be unnecessarily excited for sharing the said meaningless stories. Ogboru didn't lose any case. The Delta State people are the ones who lost the Appeal Case.
However, I know Ogboru will pursue this Delta State people's case to the end at the Supreme Court level. And until that Supreme Court Judgement is heard on Delta State’s Governorship election matter between Ogboru and Okowa; all is not yet 'safe' for the latter. If Jesus Christ suffered crucification and was betrayed by his own Jewish people, then who is Ogboru that will not be humiliated by his own Urhobo people. According to the gospel of Matthew, Pilate washed his hands in front of the Jewish crowd before announcing, "I am innocent of this man's blood; see to it yourself." The Jewish people shouted in response: "Let His blood be on us and on our children." Deltans should be reminded and weary of the fact that whatever seeds they sow today, they and their children, and children's children, and future generations; will REAP them.
