ON NIGERIAN SENATE'S CONFIRMATION OF BURATAI AND OTHER EX-SERVICE CHIEFS AS NON-CAREER AMBASSADORS - TYPICAL OF OUR RUBBER STAMP LAWMAKERS WHO CAN ONLY BARK BUT CAN'T BITE

I am not entirely surprised with the recent reports that the Nigerian Senate has confirmed former Chief of Staff, Tukur Buratai; and other retired Service Chiefs as non-career Ambassadors. This is because I was not expecting anything different from the obviously rubber stamp Lawmakers that we have, who are simply there to work for their master.
Shame! Shame!! Shame!!! On the Nigerian Senate for their said approval of the ex-service Chiefs. The Senate are simply worthless with their approvals.
Though, many had expected the Senate to act nobly by rejecting Buhari's nomination of the service Chiefs for the ambassadorial roles, considering the fact that majority of Nigerians had condemned their nomination, noting that it was a plan to shield them from prosecution by the International Criminal Court (ICC) for alleged abuses committed by the Nigerian military under their watch. But to me, that would be a miracle if they had rejected President Buhari's nomination because since the 9th Assembly came into being, they have not done anything to suggest that they are really there to represent the interest of the Nigerian people.
The simple and sad fact is that the Nigerian Senate in its entirety, are a bunch of lawmakers that constitute as a 'national disgrace.' They keep on dramatizing their theatrics of always 'barking', which is aimed to deceive the Nigerian public, but they really cannot bite. For instance, calling President Buhari and his Federal-led Executive Government to order, especially for not being able to carry out their primary constitutional responsibility of protecting lives and properties of the Nigerian people. A National Assembly that cannot call the Executive to order, is not fit to continue existing as the legislative arm.
The members of the Senate and House of Representatives, should be reminded that they are not there to protect their interests, and that of Mr. President. But they are there to Represent the overall interests of the people that supposedly elected them there in the first place. They are not there at the National Assembly to enact bills/motions and pass laws that are favourable to their master, President Buhari. They should be reminded that whatever bad seeds they sow today as lawmakers, they will some day reap the harvests.
