ON IBORI'S EXPECTED £4.2M LOOT - IBORI IS NOT ALONE IN THE SIPHONING OF DELTA STATE FUNDS
Ibori could not have looted the State's public funds alone while in Office...
Those who were part of Ibori's Executive Government during his 8 years in Office, should also be made to face the heat from 'Ibori's Loot' episodes…
These people: Senator James Manager, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, David Edevbie, Ighoyota Amori and Others who are now aspiring to become the Governor of Delta State, were not known to have any businesses that must have made them become millionaires before 1999 that the Ibori Government came in…
We should as Deltans, realize those who contributed in draining the State's resources meant to make life better for all, and put them where they belong…
With recent reports that the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, has revealed that any moment from now, the Federal Government expects the return of £4.2m seized from the associates of convicted former Governor of Delta State, James Ibori, I consider it necessary to reiterate the fact that Ibori was not alone in the looting of Delta State funds. All those who served under Ibori between 1999 to 2007, actively aided and cooperated with Ibori to misappropriate, siphon and loot Delta State public funds during the said period. These include, Senator James Manager, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, David Edevbie, Ighogota Amori, and Others that served under James Ibori's administration either as Commissioners or one thing or the other within the then Ibori's Executive Government. Ibori could not have succeeded in looting the State’s treasury without the cooperation of his Executive cabinet members listed above, which include his aides, Accountant-Generals, etc. It could not have been possible for the said loots to have been exported from Delta State treasury, if these persons did not cooperate with Ibori.
Let it be known that these people, while they should quietly continue to enjoy their loots because it is no longer rumour but confirmed, however it is important for Deltans to be reminded about who these people really are. They have never really had the interest of the State and its people in their heart, even from when they joined the Delta State Government under Ibori's era. If they did, all that enormous money stolen under that administration would have not left the shores of Nigeria, or used for other personal purposes. Rather, the said funds would have been used to better the living standards of Deltans and greatly improve the infrastructural demands of the State.
Like I have always asked, did Ibori singlehandedly stole the State's money? Did he award fake/inflated contracts to himself? Was he the one that signed and approved cheques and transferred the monies himself, without the active collaboration/cooperation of his Commissioners (especially that of Finance, Education and Works), Aides and his then Accountant-Generals of Delta State? The answer to these questions is No! Ibori was never alone in looting the State's money. It is evident that everything about Ibori's loot was actually an organized state crime.
These people: Senator James Manager, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, David Edevbie, Ighoyota Amori and Others who are now aspiring to become the Governor of Delta State, were not known to have any businesses that must have made them become millionaires before 1999 that the Ibori Government came in. I challenge all of them above, to tender their bank statements before 1999 and what it became during the time of Ibori and after. These people have all been feeding on Government till date. In fact, they have made Government their farmyards where they can harvest to feed fat.
This is why I have asked before now, that the anti-graft agencies like the EFCC, ICPC, Code of Conduct Bureau, as well as the Nigerian Police Force, ought to have started fresh financial crime cases against Ibori's former Commissioners, Aides and Accountant-Generals, who were in the Government with him during his eight years in office. Especially when we consider the fact that Ibori was actually convincingly convicted by the UK crown court for money laundering which belonged to Delta State. And now, the same money is being repatriated to Nigeria, and since the Delta State Government has owned up to admit these monies were stolen, hence they are asking the Federal Government to bring back the money to Delta State, then everyone that is behind the said looting of the State's treasury should be made to face the music as well, and not only Ibori. That is how I see it.
