ON GOVERNOR OKOWA'S SHAMEFUL WARDS CREATION

ON GOVERNOR OKOWA'S SHAMEFUL WARDS CREATION

I find it appalling and shameful that the Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, had carried out an obvious uneven political empowerment distribution with its creation of Wards in the State, which evidently intended to tilt the outcome of future elections in favour of Delta North areas and to certain desired directions. It is an established known fact that Population is the only standard justification for the creation of additional Wards in a State. The more population a place has, the more Wards it ought to get, and not the other way round.

That is how best to describe the carving out of 34 new Wards from some Local Government Areas by the Delta State Independent Electoral Commission. Is it not SHAMEFUL for Governor Okowa to have acted this way? What are the Urhobo politicians doing about this SHAMEFUL act of the Delta State Governor. Can't they challenge him in the Court of Law, and even take it up to the Supreme Court to have it concluded?

Let me repeat myself that Delta State was created for the Urhobos, Isokos, Itsekiris, Ijaws and the Ndokwas. Anioma was never part of the Delta State creation agitations. After they had succeeded in smuggling the Delta State capital to Asaba, which is a boundary town with Anambra State, and forcefully joined what they were never part of its creation, they wanted to take it all with their in-law Babangida then as Military Head of State. And right now, they are coming up with this creation of Wards to favour areas that are not as populated as the areas predominantly occupied by the Urhobos.

One begins to wonder why the Igbos then, were blaming the Hausas/Fulanis for dominating some sectors of the Federation? Governor Okowa knows clearly that the Delta North (Anioma areas) were not originally part of Delta State. Hence, they are doing what they are doing to favour their areas.

I really don't blame Okowa, but I blame our Urhobo politicians for allowing these things to happen at will. When has a Governor become a god of a state, that people are now afraid to talk to him, or challenge him for taking irresponsible unpopular decisions? Are the Urhobo politicians selling their own people for the sake of power and appointments? Shame on all Urhobo politicians.

It has been established that Governor Okowa is apparently anti-Urhobo tribe. Where is Olorogun Moses Taiga of the UPU? When Olorogun Moses Taiga gave the title of OCHUKO of Urhobo to Governor Okowa, I was the only voice that challenged him then because it was a big goof. Olorogun Moses Taiga should be ashamed of himself for giving that title of OCHUKO to Governor Okowa, who is obviously an anti-Urhobo Governor of Delta State. I also blame Okowa's godfather, James Ibori, and other Urhobo eminent politicians who are just blinded with money and power. They only think of money and power and are ready to betray their tribe to satisfy their insatiable greed. What a shame!
