ON FEDERAL GOVERNMENT'S REPORTED DECLARATION THAT THEY DO NOT KNOW THE WHEREABOUTS OF THE CHINESE MEDICAL TEAM - A BIG SHAME!
It is the height of irresponsibility, dereliction of statutory function and gross carelessness, for Nigerians to be told by the Federal Government supposedly elected to protect the well-being and welfare of its people, that they do not know the whereabouts of the Chinese medics team who came into Nigeria some weeks back to offer assistance in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.
Some reports even noted that the Federal Government says it has no responsibility to tell the whereabouts of the said Chinese medics who came into Nigeria at the outset of the Coronavirus pandemic in the country, as they were not invited by Nigeria, but came in on a company visa. One begins to wonder what exactly is wrong with these our political leaders. If this is true, then it means the appropriate Government authorities, and their officials that brought the Chinese team into Nigeria, should be held responsible, accountable and evidently disciplined if they don't know where these Chinese are currently habitating in Nigeria.
One is forced to ask if this is a joke or the reality on ground! A friend, Mr Steve who commented on this, noted as follows:
"This is the height of stupidity. All International flights were banned. How could they have visas issued because of a company? Can they be fished out and flushed out of the country? Oh Nigeria my country......."
"My broda, this is annoying. It appears we have sold out to the Chinese. How can a very Senior Government official in the name of Minister of Health, claim the Chinese Doctors (who cannot practice in Nigeria because they did not pass through NMA certification), be given visas? Now, who received them and even made a public show of them upon arrival? Meanwhile they came in when all borders were closed. How did they come to receive red carpet treatment. Am vexed"
Many Nigerians like me, have asked why were they invited into the country in the first instance? Especially when we have the best Doctors, Pharmacists and Nurses that already on top of the situation with the Coronavirus pandemic. As far as we can tell, all of this is aimed to misappropriate public funds. The Nigerian medical professionals and majority of the Nigerian elites also objected to the Chinese medics invitation. But the Federal Government didn't heed to that advice. Now, they are coming to tell Nigerians stories. Don't they have shame?
