OBOREVWORI: ELECTIONS ARE OVER, STOP LIVING IN THE PAST

Why do successive Delta State Governments under the PDP hegemony always set, lead and sustain negative standards?

At a time sitting governors have set the wheel of their stewardship rolling with various programmes and tangible projects, Governor Sheriff 'Francis' Oborevwori is still living in the mood of elections campaigns.

No day passes without the governor of Delta state pledging to do one thing or the order. Except he is campaigning in anticipation of being sacked by the Election Tribunal to contest a fresh election, he should face government and stop living in the past with the unending promises and pledges he may never fulfill.

Gov Oborevwori has not realised campaigns are over. It is time to deliver, not for making frivolous campaign promises. He announces political appointment and he is celebrating it as one big achievement.

He goes to Warri and brags about turning it Dubai-UAE and Doha-Qatar. He goes about making promises of being accountable, building castles in the air when what is needed is action, people seeing construction on sites.

In the last few weeks, Rivers state governor, Siminalayi Fubara has flagged free transportation with luxury buses for Rivers people to cushion impact of subsidy removal. Fubara has flagged off construction work for a landmark Port Harcourt Ring Road project, releasing a cash mobilisation of N150Biliion of N200Bn he sourced from the State Assembly to Julius Berger to deliver the project.

That is aside other ongoing projects with definite completion period that Fubara is monitoring in his state. In Bayelsa, Duoye Diri recently flagged off 170 vehicles as transportation palliative.

In Delta, Sherriff is still campaigning, making promises. He should stop living in the pass. Unlike Fubara, can he account for the Billion Naira supplementary budgets he has collected.

He should face practical governance and stop the daily promises. No one placed a gun on Sherriff and Okowa to contest. He has right to reject being used by Okowa to seek for power.

Elections are over and so he should stop campaign promises and face governance squarely.
