IF ONLY ALL NIGERIAN POLITICIANS WILL BE AS INDUSTRIOUS AND INVESTMENT-WISE LIKE PETER OBI AND MAJORITY OF THE IGBOS, NIGERIA WILL BECOME A MUCH BETTER PLACE

IF ONLY ALL NIGERIAN POLITICIANS WILL BE AS INDUSTRIOUS AND INVESTMENT-WISE LIKE PETER OBI AND MAJORITY OF THE IGBOS, NIGERIA WILL BECOME A MUCH BETTER PLACE

I am one who hardly sing praises of any political leader in Nigeria. No matter who or what that person may be. I will always say it as it is regardless of who is concerned. But when I do praise someone, just know that such a person deserves it. And in this case, Mr. Peter Obi surely deserves every bit of my praise and respect. This is just my opinion and observation as a concerned Nigerian.

While I understand the fact that every tribe in Nigeria has their own flaws and issues, but to put it bluntly, I believe the Igbos, and their industrious nature, has made them become one of the people that are heavily investing back their wealth in the transformation of the country and people's lives.

Mr. Peter Obi, former Governor of Anambra State and a Vice Presidential aspirant in the last General elections, who is one of the Igbo stock, can be regarded as one of the most creative, investment-wise and industrious Nigerian politician in the country. While other political leaders at the same level with Peter Obi, are only known for the misappropriation of public funds which they use in acquiring mansions across the country and other parts of the globe, and accumulating exotic cars which they never get to use; Mr. Peter Obi on the other hand, has always been known to invest back into the country, creating tremendous wealth for the Nigerian populace through gainful employment.

This is no exaggeration, neither am I here to blow someone's trumpet. Those who know me, know that I don't toe that path. But I believe if anyone would put sentiments aside and carefully examine Mr. Peter Obi's life as a Nigerian politician, and look at what he has been doing for, and in the lives of countless Nigerians by virtue of his investments across the country, am sure that person will be convinced as well. If we have 100 people like Mr. Peter Obi in the country, I am very certain that the problem of unemployment, poverty, and not having food on the table, will be no more in Nigeria.

Peter Obi's business ideas led to the creation of Fidelity Bank Plc to become what it is today, before he become Governor. Even after that, he went on to have established Nigeria’s indigenous biggest shopping mall, known as NEXT CASH AND CARRY, in the country. It was in 2013 that Mr. Peter Obi established the mall’s first branch in the nation’s capital Abuja, FCT. Perhaps, a visit to the said shopping mall in Abuja will leave you jaw-dropped and mouth-wide-open. And in 2018, he was set to launch the mall’s second branch in Port Harcourt, Rivers state, which has become the largest shopping arena in the whole of Nigeria. I can only compare this with Walmart and Fiesta in the US. Even Shoprite does not even come close.

It was reported that Mr. Peter Obi has plans to further launch more branches of the mall across several other States within the country, with his next target location being his own state, Anambra, and also Lagos State.

How I wish other Nigerian Politicians like Dino Malaye, and former Governors like James Ibori, had learnt and emulated the steps of Mr. Peter Obi, Nigerians will be talking about them today in a different positive light. It is not to be buying mansions in Dubai, UK, US and other foreign and African countries. It is not to by answering the name, 'Ogidiodigbo of Africa', or to be displaying very expensive state-of-the-art cars, jewelries, furniture and designer clothes, whereas all around you are poverty stricken people. It is not to be forming 'godfather' in the State's political process that everyone must now have to seek for your blessing/approval before they can succeed as politicians. It is not to be stealing public funds, and stacking them in suck away pits, empty containers and buildings. Or to desire to remain the only person with money that everyone around you would have to hail and kneeling down before they will be given peanuts. Mr. Peter Obi, was never known to be any of this, unlike most Nigerian politicians.

It is about using one's privileged position in Government, and even after Government; plus all the wealth that comes with it - to invest back into the society and positively impact the lives of many Nigerians. For Mr. Peter Obi, he was already a made billionaire before joining Government because he has always been an astute Investor to the core. It is from his investment portfolios, that he keeps re-investing in businesses that would help Nigerians put food on their table. If other Nigerian politicians who had stolen public funds were to have invested same in businesses that would provide employment to Nigerians, it would have even been better. But that is not the case.

Truth is, if other politicians have been doing the same thing like Mr. Peter Obi, Nigeria would have been a developed nation, and we would have addressed the issue of unemployment to a very large extent. By being prudent, and wise in what he invests money on, Mr. Peter Obi has created employment for many young Nigerians more than most Nigerian politicians we can think of. This is what our political leaders should be known for, and not ephemeral things and frivolities that are just wastes of scarce funds, which could have been used to transform the lives of many.
