ESE GAM AS UPU PG A MISNOMER
Ese Gam who is a lawyer should have known there is a pending case between Joe Omene and Moses Taiga led UPU and as such should have sought for settlement and withdrawal of court action before seeking to be elected for the supposed UPU election that brought him as new PG.
A lawyer should understand the consequences if such a pending court issue is undermined. Supposing Joe Omene wins his case, it then means Moses Taiga's conducted UPU election is null and avoid in law. And if that becomes the case, it means the supposed new UPU EXCO led by Ese Gam is illegal.
Ese Gam was once Secretary General of UPU as claimed and reportedly lost his second tenure election for that office of UPU to Kenneth Iwhewhe. If Ese Gam performed well as Secretary General, he wouldn't have lost a second bid to Kenneth Iwhewhe.
Agreed Ese Gam is a lawyer, but he is not popular and known like other Urhobo prominent lawyers living, like Thompson Okpoko, Efe Akpofure, Peter Mrakpor, Albert Akpomudje, Ekemejero Ohwovoriole, Malcolm Omirhobo, Festus Keyamo, Amos Utuama and others.
Ese Gam can't be rated with these prominent Urhobo lawyers. Kenneth Iwhewhe he lost to is not a lawyer.
B.O. Nafagha made reference to former US President, Barak Obama in trying to justify how an unknown Ese Gam could come from
no where to become UPU PG. That analogy does not correlate. It is so misplaced.
Before becoming President of the United States of America, Obama was a US Senator and Illinois State Senator, well known in US.
Obama served three terms as a Senator in Illinois from 1997 to 2005 before being elected US Senator and then President of US.
Urhobo doesn't need a PG UPU that will be hyped to be popular. All former UPU Leaders are household names that when you call their names, doors will be opened. Call their names and every Urhobo man knows who you are talking about. I have not read or heard anything about Ese Gam before now and I believe many Urhobo people don't know him as well.
A golden fish doesn't hide. I don't have personal issues with Ese Gam and I am just being objective because UPU is an Urhobo sensitive Authority. Ese Gam should have gone for lesser position in UPU for now. Urhobo needs a known 'pedigree commitment person' for Urhobo wellbeing and therefore needs no introduction to resonate with the people.
UPU is too important, too sensitive to be led by an Ese Gam forced on Urhobo through dirty PDP politics. The point is clear, It is not enough to want to be UPU PG. What have you done in and for Urhobo, do the people know you for?
Ese Gam as UPU PG is a misnomer. He should have gone for other positions as Deputy PG to prepare to take over PG UPU in future.
