DELTA 2023: HOW POLITICALLY RELEVANT IS OVERHYPED DAVID EDEVBIE?
David Edevbie is not deserving of mention among contenders for Delta 2023 governorship, just being overhyped.
Former Governor James Ibori could not have looted Delta State treasury blind without David Edevbie's endorsement & seal as chief state finance controller.
His desperation to succeed Governor Ifeanyi Okowa is a grand conspiracy to sustain the thieving Ibori political hegemony over Delta state, which Delta State electorates must not allow.
Among the political figures whose names have started popping up as aspiring Delta state governors ahead of 2023, how politically relevant is David Edevbie?
We strongly believe that not only David Edevbie is being overrated among the emerging contenders. He doesn't even deserve mention in the race for the 2023 governorship, given his antecedents over how the thieving PDP hegemony has unfeelingly enriched a few and arrested the common good in Delta state since 1999 era of Governor James Ibori.
At a glance, David Edevbie has been In government since 1999 till few days ago when he was sacked as Chief of Staff to the Delta State Government, with a shortlived spell at the national executive under former President Umaru Yar'Adua.
Unforgettably, it was under David Edevbie's shield as Finance Commissioner that Ibori looted Delta's treasury with reckless abandon. As the finance controller of the state at the time, no dime could have been lifted from the commonwealth without the endorsement of this David Edevbie under Ibori.
All cheques and transfers bore his seal as chief finance controller of Delta State. And so no question about the fact that if Ibori was jailed in the UK for laundering Delta's commonwealth, then David Edevbie has questions to answer. That the Nigerian anti-graft system lacks the courage to diligently fight corruption doesn't absolve David Edevbie as prime accomplice to Ibori's mindboggling looting of Delta treasury.
This realization is why we strongly advise Delta State electorates to be suspicious and shun the overhyping of David Edevbie for the 2023 governorship. We must all begin to see through that the promotion of undeserving David Edevbie for Delta State governor in 2023 is a grand conspiracy by the fading Ibori political bloc to sustain continued looting of the Delta State treasury.
Besides, what was David Edevbie's financial status before 1999? Which one active business or key investments did he own before he was brought by Ibori? Shall we continue to romance water corruption to grow stronger over Delta by promoting only those whose only known channel to instant wealth is by grabbing a space in government.
Even till date, David Edevbie has no known thriving business, same as others like Senator James Manager who have taken sitting tight on political offices in every government of the day as their farmyards and factories. They can’t live without being in government.
David Edevbie is just being overhyped. Delta must be wise.
