ARREST OF OKOWA NOTHING STRANGE
It is long over due that former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa be questioned to account for his reckless pillage of Delta state treasury.
However, with remote controlled EFCC, arresting Okowa is one thing and prosecuting him with the appropriate charges in the law court is another.
Okowa's atrocities are numerous. He didn't steal alone. He used his aides to loot Delta dry till the very last minute he left office. They should all be held and be prosecuted with the appropriate charges.
His mansions in his home town, Asaba and all over the place were not purchased with his legitimate earnings. His allowances and salaries can't pay for them.
His financing of Atiku Abubakar presidential campaigns. His connections, contacts with Premium Trust Bank and his fronts should be invited and be prosecuted.
Okowa should pay for his sins and for impoverishing Delta state further. Okowa is not alone. I will not be excited one bit for EFCC holding Okowa until he is appropriately prosecuted.
Even when he is prosecuted he could be set free by the judiciary. Many have been held before now. What happened to NNPC GMD, Andrew Yakubu, with all the dollars discovered he is still walking free.
EFCC is known with its drama of making news and prosecuting in the media. Almost all Nigerian politicians that held positions are corrupt.
Most of the politicians in the ruling APC and PDP are corrupt and stole from public treasuries. There is no Nigerian politicians and public office holder who was a former commissioner, minister, governor, Lawmaker, top management staff of NNPCL and its subsidiaries who didn't steal.
All past EFCC Chairmen stole, except Nuhu Ribadu who left office without stealing. Okowa is like others that all walk free and enjoy their stolen wealth from public treasuries.
'Who no teef' among Nigerian officeholders be they elected or appointed? The mansions, exotic cars and their lifestyles are evidences. Those who didn't have bicycles of their own before they joined government or appointed are all living in ill-gotten wealth.
It is culture of stealing in Nigeria once one is elected or appointed. There are many of them who live on government patronage. They can't live without pubic money.
Everything they own is from public treasuries. Let's see how Okowa case will go. And all of them who are accusing Okowa are all part of the stealing.
